SGI server and storage solutions are based on the latest innovations in computer and I/O technology. Future challenges in ecology, expandability, scalability, reliability, manageability and flexibility to changing business needs are also kept in mind during the whole designing process.
Server Solutions
SGI’s server portfolio consists of cost efficient alternatives for small to medium business, technical computing, datacenters, large application and virtualization environments. Key features include:
- Performance: The highest processing and I/O capacity
- Scalability: Excellent CPU-power, I/O speed, RAM, Storage
- Reliability: Redundant I/O paths and power supplies
- Ecology: Energy-saving servers and datacenters
- Hot Plug construction and powerful management software
- Open technology: Linux, Microsoft, Intel & AMD
Storage Solutions
The access speed of data, lifetime of saved data, and the importance of data are the typical driving factors in decision making of any storage solution. From SGI’s storage portfolio everyone can find the right solution for traditional or more demanding needs:
- SAN Storage islands can be shared to all, including LAN users
- Fulfill Business critical Storage needs
- Large capacity and high speed, reliable environments
- Persistent offline-data, available online
- Traditional archiving (VTL or Tape Libraries)
Mobile and Ecological DataCenter Solutions
MobiRack™: Transportable Data Center with 5U, 11U, 14U & 16U heights.
ICE Cube®: ICE Cube®: Water or air cooled datacenters built in standard container. Power Utilization Efficiency PUE 1.1 or even less.

SGI NAS Gateway cluster connects FC and LAN networks together.
SAN network resources can be shared with LAN network users by NAS Gateway’s Management.
NAS Gateway can handle NDMP-backups and async remote transfers during standard working hours and causing no penalty to other tasks.
Storage System sharing to all in SAN and LAN Networks

Typically all the FC network connected Systems were isolated into their own islands and the file sharing was implemented by copying data to be shared from one place to another. By doing so, the data will be valid only short period of time and it was readable only.
When using SGI Storage Software: DMF, CXFS, XFS, XVM and APPMAN both LAN and SAN Multi-tier Storage Systems can be shared to all users.
Integrated Storage System is typically shared and used as follows
- Primary Storage: The most critical and fast accessed data
(Tier 1)
- Secondary Storage: Not so often needed data, access time not important (Tiers 2-4)
- Tape Library: Backups, long time archiving (Tier 5)
